George is among the fourth generation (six generations to-date) of his family in the Chattanooga, Tennessee and North Georgia areas. His great grandfather, John L. Divine settled here in 1840 at Ross’s Landing. His grandfathers, George E. McGee Sr. and Henry King came to the area in the early 1900’s. His grandmothers were Adelaide Divine McGee and Kate Cox King. George’s parents were the late George E. McGee Jr. and Tallulah King McGee. All resided either in Chattanooga or on Lookout Mountain. Wife of 35 years, Corinne Gorgee McGee and two daughters, Elizabeth M. Vannoy and Tallulah M. Trice and four grandchildren, Allison, Katherine, Bobby and Kamp Vannoy. Two brothers, Henry King McGee of Nashville and John Divine McGee of Lookout Mountain. George attended the Baylor School, Georgia Tech and Georgia State with BBS in business and marketing. He is a veteran of U.S. Marine Corps, VMF-351 Squadron, NAS Atlanta; and U.S. Army Reserve, 3397th Garrison Unit, Chattanooga. George has been a member of Lookout Mountain Presbyterian Church for 50 years and served as a Deacon. George was commissioner of town of Lookout Mountain, Tennessee for 6 years and director and officer of Chattanooga Board of Realtors, Y.M.C.A. and various company boards. A Realtor for 40 plus years, McGee owned his own real estate company for 20 years. After a merger with another real estate firm, McGee is now affiliated with Herman Walldorf Company as an affiliate broker. His specialty for the past 20 years has been developing residential communities on Lookout Mountain. He and partners have developed and sold ten different communities in Dade and Walker Counties in Georgia. Currently, McGee and partners are developing and marketing Lookout highlands, a 2,000 acre gated community and Lookout Crest, a fifty lot community with private roads, spectacular views, tennis, swimming and hiking facilities.
